Med-tronic Physio-Control LIFEPAK 20(LP20) defibrillator Capacitor Support Bracket is an integral part of the defibrillator equipment. The brackets are used to hold the capacitor in place, making sure it doesn't move around or get damaged during use. Defibrillators are used to deliver an electric shock to the heart during cardiac arrest or other situations that require a quick response. Capacitors are an important part of the shock delivery system, and the brackets make sure they stay secure so the defibrillator can work effectively when needed. Brackets are usually made of durable materials that can withstand the stress of repeated use and are designed to fit snugly against the defibrillator's housing, ensuring that the capacitors always stay in place.

Energy Capacitor Removal

warning! Shocks and damage to the device may occur. Wires can be pinched or damaged during disassembly. Follow the disassembly instructions carefully to avoid pinching the wires.

Note: Remove the following assemblies before beginning this disassembly.

- First case

– front cover

To remove the power capacitor

1. If the plate stack assembly is not removed, remove and discard the screw and ground wire.

2. Unplug the therapy/power cable from the therapy circuit board.

3.Separate the plate stack assembly from the printer cover and the power module.

4. Disconnect the capacitor drain cable from the processing board.

Note: When removing the capacitor drain wire, be careful not to damage the wires or adjacent hardware.

5. Remove the cable tie securing the capacitor drain cable to the ballast bracket.

6. Remove and discard the two 4-40 × 0.312 screws on the back of the capacitor bracket.

7. Lift the condenser from the condenser bracket.

8. Remove the condenser sleeve with foam tape from the condenser.

9. If removing the capacitor bracket, remove and discard the two 4-40 × 0.312 screws from the front of the capacitor bracket and remove the capacitor bracket and capacitor shield.

Energy Capacitor Installation

To install the Energy Capacitor:

1. Check that the power module has two capacitor holders. 2. Attach the capacitor shield and the two capacitor brackets to the insulator using two new 4-40 × 312 screws (if the brackets were removed).

3. Check the power capacitors and make sure the plastic boot and dust tape are properly and securely in place.

Note: With the coil connector on the capacitor, wrap plastic wrap tightly around the capacitor. Poron tape is required to secure the sleeves at both ends of the condenser.

4. Check the A13 power supply capacitors to ensure they are attached with foam tape (optional for LIFEPAK 20).

5. Install the capacitor into the capacitor bracket so that the lead ends of the capacitor face the printer case and the warning label is visible on top of the capacitor.

6. Install and tighten two new 4-40×.312 screws on the condenser mount. Make sure the condenser support is centered on the dust tape.

7. Connect the condenser cable to the treatment plate. The capacitor discharge lead connects to pin 4 of this connector.

8. Secure the capacitor discharge cable to the inductor bracket with cable ties. Route the cable through the therapy panel using the same route as the reactance cable (see picture).

9. Install the power module if not already installed.

10. Install the card stack if not already installed.

11. Reconnect the 4-pin power/therapy cable connector to the therapy board. Reinstall the card stack assembly.

12. Insert a new 4-40 × .312 screw and secure the ground wire to the card stack.

13. Install the front cover.

14. Install the upper casing.

15. Insert the battery.

16. Complete the PIP.
