ME (Medical Electronics or Medical Engineering) is the intersection of medicine and engineering and is a common acronym in recent years. However, as early as 1945, before the phrase appeared, the founders of Nihon Kohden started work in the field of medical electronics.

Bird neuromuscular tissue is the driving force behind the establishment of Nihon Kohden. The founder of Nihon Kohden, the late Dr. Yoshio Ogino, was studying electrical engineering. One day, he happened to see the stimulation experiment of the neuromuscular tissue of a bird. He was shocked by the miracle of biology. Some require hundreds of times the sensitivity, at least two decimal points more than the equipment developed by Japan's leading electrical engineering experts."

He exclaimed: Can higher-level engineering be applied to the subtleties of biology and the study of the human body, combining medicine and engineering, and perhaps even saving human lives. With this powerful inspiration, he studied medicine and established Nihon Kohden in August 1951.
