Introduction

The Edan XM1 NIBP pump is an integrated pneumatic assembly designed for the XM1 multi-parameter module, it is a complete air circuit assembly that combines the micro pump, solenoid valve, pressure sensor, connecting tubing, and sealed connectors into a single standardized unit.

The pump itself is a low noise medical micro pump designed to operate quietly at the bedside. Its inflation rate is adaptive , it inflates quickly in adult mode and slows down for pediatric and neonatal modes. A high-precision pressure sensor continuously monitors cuff pressure across a range of 0 to 300 mmHg, and the system supports manual single measurement, timed automatic measurement, and continuous monitoring modes.

Installation Method

1. Position the replacement NIBP assembly in the module's internal cavity, aligning the mounting bracket with the retention slots.

2. Press the bracket into place until it locks.

3. Connect the pneumatic tubing to the NIBP interface port.

4. Connect the ribbon cable to the parameter board — ensure the connector is fully seated.

5. Reassemble the module housing.

6. Slide the module back into the host monitor's rack until it locks.

7. Power on the monitor and run an NIBP leak test to verify the pneumatic circuit is sealed.

Advantages

1. Inflates the cuff with adaptive speed control. The pump drives air through the pneumatic circuit to inflate the blood pressure cuff. It automatically adjusts inflation speed based on the selected patient mode fast for adults, slower for pediatric and neonatal patients. This prevents over pressurization in smaller patients and ensures measurement accuracy across all age groups.

2. The integrated high-precision pressure sensor continuously monitors cuff pressure throughout the measurement cycle. The 0–300 mmHg range covers the full clinical spectrum, and the sensor works with the module's algorithms to calculate systolic, diastolic, and mean arterial pressure.
