Introduction

The Primedic HeartSave H8-S8 is a semi-automatic external defibrillator (AED) a portable, intelligent device designed for use by both trained professionals and lay rescuers in cardiac arrest emergencies. It's compact enough to be carried anywhere from schools and offices to ambulances, ships, and even homes.

Functions

1. Display guidance: A 4.7‑inch blue‑mode monitor shows real‑time information. Voice prompts and a metronome guide the user throughout the defibrillation process.

2. Pediatric button: A dedicated button adjusts the device settings specifically for use on children.

Shock delivery: After analysis is complete and the device gives clearance, defibrillation is activated by pressing the shock button – simple, one‑step operation.

3. Connector socket: This port accepts pre‑connected electrodes or an ECG monitoring cable.

4.Status display: The active status panel shows the device’s readiness and battery level. Automatic self‑tests are performed daily.

5.Setup menu: Users can customise settings individually, and the interface supports over 40 languages for instructions and prompts.

• Check the device regularly. The H8-S8 runs automatic self tests daily and weekly. However, it's still good practice to visually check the device periodically ensure the status indicator shows it's ready, and check the battery and electrode pad expiry dates.

• Use only Primedic-approved accessories. The device is designed to work with specific batteries and electrode pads. Using non-approved components may affect performance, compromise patient safety, and void the warranty.

• Store the device properly. Store the H8-S8 in a clean, dry environment within the recommended temperature range (-5°C to +55°C). Avoid exposing it to extreme heat, direct sunlight for extended periods, or corrosive substances

Using the device in an emergency

1.Open the device cover – the device powers on automatically.
Follow the voice and screen instructions – they will guide you through each step.
2. Expose the patient's chest and apply the electrode pads as shown on the diagram.

3. The device will automatically analyse the patient's heart rhythm.

4. If a shock is advised, the device will announce "Shock advised" – press the flashing shock button to deliver the shock (semi-automatic mode).

5. After the shock – or if no shock is advised – follow the CPR instructions (voice and screen animation) and perform chest compressions.

6. The device will continue to guide you through cycles of rhythm analysis and CPR until emergency services arrive.
