PHiliph V6-2 Ultrasound Probe Volume Array Transducer Replacement
Introduction
The PHiliph V6-2 is a broadband curved volume array transducer essentially, a specialist ultrasound probe that brings 3D and 4D imaging within reach of routine abdominal, obstetric, and gynaecological exams. What makes it different from a standard 2D probe is its ability to capture an entire volume of tissue in a single sweep, rather than requiring the user to hunt for the right plane manually.
The probe is available in two main variants: a 100° field‑of‑view version commonly paired with higher‑end systems like the EPIQ and iU22, and a 66° field‑of‑view variant marketed for the ClearVue series.

Advantages
1. Captures 3D/4D volumes in a single sweep. The V6-2 is a volume array transducer meaning it can acquire a complete 3D dataset with one smooth sweep of the probe.
2. Delivers real‑time 4D imaging. At up to 36 volumes per second, the probe provides smooth, live 3D imaging particularly useful for observing fetal movements or cardiac structures in motion.
3. Produces high quality 2D images. The broadband design (covering 2–6 MHz) allows the system to adapt the frequency to the depth being examined. For deeper abdominal structures, lower frequencies provide better penetration; for superficial detail, higher frequencies give superior resolution.

Precautions
The probe is a precision instrument treat it with care. Ultrasound transducers are delicate and expensive devices. Avoid dropping the probe, bumping the acoustic lens against hard surfaces, or subjecting it to sudden impacts. When not in use, store it in the original manufacturer's protective case or wrap the lens in a soft cloth.
Keep the acoustic lens clean. After each patient examination, wipe the probe clean with a soft cloth and an approved disinfectant solution. Follow your facility's infection control protocols and the manufacturer's guidelines for cleaning and disinfection. Never immerse the probe in liquid or use harsh solvents that could damage the lens or housing.
Check the cable regularly. Inspect the probe cable for kinks, cuts, or exposed wires. Damaged cables can affect image quality and pose a safety risk. If the cable shows signs of wear, have the probe serviced.
