Description

The PSOL Valve in the PB840 ventilator is commonly referred to as the PSOL valve. It is an inspiratory/expiratory proportional valve, model number 4-071800-00. It features an extremely fast response time, enabling the PB840 to support very high respiratory rates and accurately deliver the set tidal volume within a very short inspiratory time. It is a normally closed solenoid valve; when the ventilator is powered off or enters a safe state, it de-energizes and closes, cutting off the fresh airflow to the inspiratory end to prevent continuous airflow into the patient's lungs and the risk of barotrauma.

Functions:

- During the inspiratory phase, the proportional solenoid valve, based on instructions from the microprocessor, adjusts its opening with extremely high frequency and precision, thereby precisely controlling the flow rate of the oxygen-air mixture delivered to the patient.

- During the expiratory phase, the machine continuously supplies power to the proportional solenoid valve at the expiratory end, maintaining it at a specific opening. This maintains the set PEEP with exceptional precision and effectively addresses leaks, preventing PEEP drop.

- At the instant of transition from inspiratory to expiratory, the proportional solenoid valve responds rapidly, preventing airway pressure overshoot or collapse, thus improving patient-machine synchrony and reducing patient discomfort caused by pressure fluctuations.

- The proportional solenoid valve's extremely fast response speed allows the machine to quickly increase the valve opening to supplement flow in the event of a slight leak in the tubing or around the endotracheal tube, based on sensor feedback, thereby maintaining the set pressure or volume.
