Brief introduction

The Hamil-ton Medical 15571400 is an original, single-use, high-efficiency hydrophobic gas filter designed specifically for the HAMIL-TON-G5 ventilators. It's a critical consumable that sits at the inspiratory and expiratory ports of the ventilator, purifying the gas that flows to and from the patient.

Built with a pleated hydrophobic membrane and electrostatic technology, the filter offers a large filtration area with low airflow resistance. Under ventilation pressure, it provides a 100% seal against liquids and aerosols, effectively blocking condensation and contaminants from entering the device's internal gas pathways. It's a key barrier against cross-contamination, protecting both the patient and the ventilator's internal components.

1. This filter removes contaminants from breathing gases with an efficiency of ≥99.995%. This protects patients from airborne pathogens and prevents the spread of multidrug-resistant bacteria and respiratory pathogens through the ventilator circuit. It also prevents contaminants from flowing back into the ventilator, protecting internal components and reducing the risk of cross-infection between patients.

2. Maintaining low resistance ensures accurate ventilation. Despite its high filtration efficiency, the filter's pleated design keeps its resistance low—less than 2.5 cmH₂O at a flow rate of 50 L/min. This minimizes the impact on ventilation accuracy and ensures uninterrupted breathing for the patient. A flow rate range of 0–180 L/min makes it suitable for adults, children, and newborns.

3. Effectively blocks liquids and aerosols. This hydrophobic membrane is effectively waterproof and 100% seals against liquids and aerosols at ventilation pressure. This prevents condensation and secretions from entering the ventilator's gas path, protecting the device from damage.

Pay attention 

• Replace the filter regularly. The recommended replacement interval is every 7 to 30 days, depending on the clinical environment and the level of contamination. Frequent replacement helps maintain filtration efficiency and reduces the risk of VAP.
• Monitor for increased resistance. Expiratory filters can become clogged over time with humidity and particles from nebulised medications. If resistance builds up, it can impair ventilation and may trigger an Exhalation obstructed alarm on the G5 ventilator. Regularly check the expiratory flow rate and the expiratory time constant (RCexp) for signs of increasing resistance.
