Product Introduction

The power module is the main power supply unit housed inside the Mindray BeneView T8 patient monitor. It's a serviceable assembly that sits at the back of the monitor, taking incoming power from either the AC mains or the internal batteries and converting it into the stable DC voltages that every other part of the monitor depends on.

What looks like a single board is actually a module containing four separate PCBs: a charging and power management board, a voltage drop DC inverter, a voltage rise and drop DC inverter, and a voltage drop 5V CIS power board. Together, they handle everything from battery charging to voltage regulation across the monitor's various subsystems.

Power Module

1. Housed in the rear section of the patient monitor, the power module serves as the central power regulation and distribution hub for the entire device.

2. At its core sits the main power board assembly, which comprises four dedicated printed circuit boards: a charging and power management board, a step-down DC inverter, a buck-boost DC inverter, and a 5V step-down CIS power board.

3. Power enters the module from two independent sources , either the monitor’s internal battery pack or an external AC mains supply. All incoming power is first converted into stable direct current before being routed to individual components across the device. The system automatically prioritizes AC power whenever a mains connection is available. If AC supply is interrupted unexpectedly, the module switches seamlessly over to battery power with no disruption to the monitor’s active operating status.

3. For physical connectivity, an AC input socket is mounted on the back face of the module. On its front side, a dedicated connector block provides four separate output links, connecting respectively to the battery pack, main board, CIS components and USB interface board.

4. Built-in protective circuitry safeguards both the module itself and the rest of the monitor hardware. When overcurrent, short-circuit or overvoltage conditions are detected, the system will immediately cut off the AC input or DC output to isolate the fault and prevent permanent component damage.

5. In total, the power module delivers four regulated DC output channels to support all functional modules of the monitor.

Always disconnect power and remove batteries before working. Before any work begins, the monitor must be powered off, unplugged from the wall outlet, and both lithium-ion batteries taken out. Prevents accidental short circuits while handling the module.

Watch out for stored charge. The power module contains capacitors that can hold a dangerous electrical charge even after the monitor has been disconnected. Give the capacitors a few minutes to discharge naturally before touching the module, and follow the specific safety steps outlined in the service manual.
