Comen STAR8000C Patient Monitor USB Interface Connection Board

Product Introduction

The Comen STAR8000C USB interface board handles data transmission, external device connectivity, system data export, and firmware upgrades for the monitor. Featuring a medical-grade modular design, its compact and lightweight form allows for precise installation within the STAR8000C's internal mounting slot. It connects to the monitor's mainboard via a dedicated shielded flat cable—this cable boasts a highly flexible medical-grade TPU sheath (bending and aging resistant) and an internal metal braided shielding layer. This shielding layer effectively protects against high-frequency electromagnetic interference from electrosurgical equipment, defibrillators, and other devices, ensuring rapid data transmission.

Advantages

1. Data Export: Quickly export waveforms, parameters, event logs, and trend data stored in the monitor via USB interface for easy archiving, analysis, or sharing.

2. Peripheral Expansion: Supports connection to USB keyboards, mice, barcode scanners, and printers, improving operational efficiency and reducing menu operation time.

3. System Upgrade: Perform online firmware upgrades on the monitor using a USB flash drive, eliminating the need for disassembly and simplifying maintenance procedures.

4. Safety Assurance: Built-in overcurrent, overvoltage, and electrostatic discharge protection circuits automatically cut off power within 50ms in case of failure, protecting the motherboard and power module.

Removing and Installing the USB Interface Board

1. Power Off and Disconnect: Turn off the monitor, unplug the power cord, and remove the battery. Wait 30 seconds.

2. Turn on the Monitor: Remove the back cover screws and carefully remove the back cover.

3. Remove the Old Board: Locate the USB interface board and remove the screws. Gently disconnect the shielded ribbon cable and remove the board.

4. Install the New Board: Remove the new board from the anti-static bag. Place it in the mounting slot (there are positioning keys; ensure correct orientation). Reconnect the ribbon cable (ensure the clips click). Secure the board with screws or press the clips until they click into place.

5. Power Off and Test: Replace the back cover, tighten the screws, reinstall the battery, and connect to AC power. Turn on the monitor and test the USB port using a USB flash drive or keyboard.

Precautions

The STAR8000C enclosure must never be opened by untrained individuals. Internal repair and component replacement must be performed exclusively by service personnel trained and authorised by COMEN, or by qualified biomedical technicians working under the guidance of the official service manual. Routine USB port cleaning and peripheral connection do not require opening the monitor and can be performed by clinical staff.

Before opening the monitor, always turn it off, disconnect the AC power cord, and remove the internal battery. Residual charge in the power supply capacitors can remain for a short time. Wait at least 30 seconds before handling any internal component.
