Description

The connection between the mainboard and the SpO2 board of the Comen STAR8000C monitor is a multi-core ribbon cable that bundles the power lines, digital signal lines, and analog signal lines together into a single ribbon cable. Internally, it simultaneously transmits a stable power supply for the probe and a weak analog blood oxygen signal. A ground wire isolates critical signal lines to reduce crosstalk. The connectors at both ends of the cable use different specifications or locking mechanisms, with keyed-in-place holes to prevent reverse wiring.

Functions:

- The motherboard provides the necessary DC power to the pulse oximeter via this line.

- Control commands from the CPU are transmitted to the pulse oximeter via this line, controlling the alternating on/off state of the red and infrared LEDs.

- The weak photoplethysmography (PPG) signal collected by the photodetector is filtered and amplified by the pulse oximeter's front-end circuitry before being transmitted back to the motherboard via the line.

- The motherboard detects the voltage level on this line to determine if the SpO2 module is inserted, as part of the power-on self-test (POST).
