1. Regular Calibration and Self-Test:
It is recommended to perform a system self-test or calibration after initial use or after prolonged periods of inactivity. Although some monitors support automatic calibration, to ensure data accuracy, it is recommended to perform a manual calibration procedure according to the monitor's instruction manual when replacing a new module or suspecting data anomalies.
2. Correct Connection of Sampling Tubing:
The two metal connectors on the back are for connecting the bypass sampling tubing. Ensure the tubing connection is tight to avoid air leakage, otherwise it will lead to lower or fluctuating measurement values.
3. Prevent Liquid from Entering the Module:
This module is a gas monitoring device; liquids (such as condensation or secretions) must not enter the sampling port. It is recommended to install a water trap (water filter) or anti-condensation device in the sampling tubing, especially when the patient's exhaled gas has high humidity, to prevent liquid backflow and damage to the sensor.
The primary function of this CO2 monitoring module is to monitor the patient's end-tidal carbon dioxide concentration in real time. End-tidal carbon dioxide concentration is a crucial indicator for assessing a patient's ventilation status, helping healthcare professionals determine if the patient's respiratory function is normal and promptly identify abnormalities such as hypoventilation or hyperventilation.
