Product Description
The SpO2 board is specifically responsible for collecting, processing, and calculating blood oxygen saturation (SpO₂) and pulse rate data, converting them into digital signals for display and alarm generation. The oximeter, typically clipped to the patient's finger, toe, or earlobe, contains two light-emitting diodes (LEDs): one emitting red light (approximately 660nm) and the other emitting infrared light (approximately 940nm). The oximeter provides precise, alternating drive currents to these LEDs, causing them to illuminate in a specific sequence and frequency. The calculated SpO₂ value, pulse rate value, and waveform data are transmitted to the monitor's main control system via an internal bus (such as I2C, SPI, or UART) for display and recording, and can be used to trigger alarms (such as those indicating low blood oxygen levels or abnormal heart rate).
Testing Procedure
- Connect SpO2 sensor to the SpO2 connector of the monitor. Set [Patient Cat.] to [Adu] and [PR Source] to [SpO2].
- Apply the SpO2 sensor to your ring finger (assume that you stay healthy).
- Check the Pleth wave and PR reading on the screen and make sure that the displayed SpO2 is within 95% and 100%.
- Remove the SpO2 sensor from your finger and make sure that an alarm of SpO2 Sensor Off is triggered.
