• Protecting the thermal print head: Preventing dust, liquids, and other contaminants from entering, ensuring the print head remains clean and functioning properly.
• Securing the recording paper: Ensuring smooth paper feed during printing, without deviation or jamming.
• Applying appropriate pressure: The cover typically contains a paper pressure roller or spring that evenly presses the recording paper against the thermal print head, ensuring clear and continuous printed ECG waveforms.

• Physical Damage: The cover may be cracked or its hinges may break due to an accidental drop or impact.
• Inability to Close or Lock: This may result in the cover not being able to close properly during printing, preventing proper paper feed and printing.
• Deterioration of the Internal Paper Pressure Mechanism: This may cause blurred or intermittent print waveforms.
• Paper Jams or Paper Feed Problems: This may also be caused by the paper guide or pressure roller inside the print cover.
