The Mindray 518B blood oxygen sensor is a medical-grade wrap sensor designed for non-invasive monitoring of blood oxygen saturation (SpO₂) and pulse rate. Compatible with Mindray patient monitors including PM-9000 and uMEC series.

Working Principle

Emits alternating red and infrared light signals via LED
Photodetector measures transmitted/reflected light intensity
Calculates SpO₂ using Lambert-Beer law based on hemoglobin absorption differences
Determines pulse rate through light signal fluctuation frequency

Important Usage Notes

Clean with 75% alcohol only - avoid soaking or harsh disinfectants
Prevent cable bending to maintain internal wiring integrity
Shield from strong light interference (e.g., surgical lights)
May not provide accurate readings for low perfusion patients (shock, hypothermia)
