► Isolated Power Supply Module

The isolated power supply provides an electrically isolated power supply to the EtCO2 and SpO2 modules. It also provides electrically isolated serial communication and isolated control signals between the EtCO2 and SpO2 modules and the main system PWBA.

► About Power Supply

The power supply converts DC power from a removable battery or AC/DC battery charger module to the voltage required by the M Series hardware.

The power circuit converts the raw battery or PWBA charger output voltage from +8.5 VDC to +16 VDC, including charge and line regulation, to the voltages shown in the following table.

► Power Supply Test

Tools needed:

• 1 red micro alligator test lead per micro alligator.

• 1 black micro alligator test lead per micro alligator.

• DC power supply (15 amp minimum).

• 0.1 ohm resistor 1% (¼W or more).

• 1000 ohm 1% resistor (¼W or more).

• Fluke 75 multimeter or equivalent.

Test setup:

Make sure the device and power supply are turned off.

Connect one end of the black wire to the "-" terminal in the battery compartment.

Connect the other end of the black wire to the "-" terminal of the power supply.

Connect the red wire to the "+" terminal socket of the battery compartment. Use a center peg with a protective plastic sheet around it.

Connect the other end of the red wire to the "+" terminal of the power supply.

Set the power supply voltage to 7V.

Caution

Be sure to connect the power supply properly to the M Series battery well terminals or damage to the unit may result. Do NOT raise the power supply voltage above 12V.
