Cardiac output (C.O.) measurement is an invasive measurement of cardiac output and other hemodynamic parameters using a technique known as thermodilution. The system flow rate can be determined by introducing a cold solution into the system and measuring the effect of the temperature drop on the downstream section. The temperature change is displayed as a curve of C.O. in the Steps window. The monitor calculates the CO value from this curve. The CO value is inversely proportional to the area under the curve. This is because your heart rate is constantly changing. Therefore, a series of measurements must be performed to obtain a reliable CO value. Average The average of multiple thermodilution measurements is always used to make treatment decisions.
Measurements can be made using the right heart thermodilution method or the PiCCO (transpulmonary thermodilution) method.

In addition, continuous cardiac output (CCO) can also be measured by analyzing the pulse shape of the blood pressure waveform with the PiCCO method.
The C.O. settings and accessing the CCO menu settings
The settings are C.O. They can be changed in the Settings menu Accessing the menu ♦ Press the C.O. key to the C.O. in module.

Measurement of CO using the PiCCO method.
The PiCCO method combines pulmonary thermodilution and pulse shape analysis with blood pressure waveforms. A fluid of known volume and temperature is injected through the CVP catheter into the right atrium, the injected bolus is mixed with blood in the heart, and a thermistor at the far end of the catheter measures the change in blood temperature. It is implanted into one of the large systemic arteries, such as the femoral or axillary arteries. The PiCCO method requires pressure measurement using the M1006B or M3001A/M3002A MMS Pressure Modules or the M3015A, M3014A Amplifier Modules. OR M3012A (cannot measure external device pressure) Pulsion Medical Systems conventional central venous (CVP) and arterial catheters are also required. You must use the provided catheter and injection site.
