Cleaning and Disinfection
Clean and disinfect (or sterilize) the probe as needed after each test. Always sterilize the needle guiding stent after performing the biopsy procedure. Otherwise, the probe and needle guide holder can become a source of infection. Please note the cleaning instructions.
1. To prevent infection, wear sterile gloves when cleaning and disinfecting the probe.
2. After disinfection, rinse the probe thoroughly with sterile water to remove chemical residue. Chemical residues on the probe can be harmful to humans.
3. If the probe is not cleaned and sterilized, the probe may become a source of infection.
NOTE: Gently wipe off the ultrasound gel after the exam. Otherwise, the ultrasound gel may solidify and affect the image quality of the transducer.
NOTE: Do not overheat the probe (above 55°C) during cleaning and disinfection. High temperatures can deform or damage the probe.
cleaning
Refer to the manual for instructions and follow hospital policies and cleaning procedures.
1. Remove the probe from the system.
2. Wear sterile gloves to prevent infection.
3. Clean the transmitter with clean or soapy water to remove debris, or wipe the transmitter with a soft urethane sponge. Avoid using brushes as they can damage the transducer.
4. After rinsing, dry the transducer with a sterile towel or gauze. Do not heat the transmitter to dry it.
Disinfect with a spray or wipe
1. Wear sterile gloves to prevent infection.
2. Spray or wipe the transmitter with disinfectant after cleaning. Follow the exposure times and methods recommended by the disinfectant manufacturer.
3. Remove any residue from the transducer with a soft cloth dampened with water.
4. After cleaning, wipe the water off the transducer with a sterile cloth or gauze.
Disinfection by immersion
1. Wear sterile gloves to prevent infection.
2. Clean the transducers before disinfecting. Mindray recommends the following solutions for transducer sterilization: Consult the chemical manufacturer's manual for disinfectant concentration, disinfectant dilution, and precautions for use. Do not immerse the transducer connector or adjacent cables in water or solution. Immerse the transmitter in the disinfectant solution for the short time recommended by the manufacturer.
(For example, for Cidex OPA, the manufacturer recommends a soak time of at least 12 minutes). Follow local regulations when selecting and using disinfectants.
warm!
The minimum distance between the cable connection and the water level is 10 mm.
3. Flush the transmitter with a large volume of sterile water (approximately 2 gallons) for at least 1 minute to remove any chemical residue. Alternatively, you can rinse the transmitter using the rinsing method recommended by the disinfectant manufacturer.
4. After cleaning, wipe the water off the transducer with a sterile cloth or gauze. Do not heat the transmitter to dry it.
