About GE Datex-ohmeda Valve Adjustable Pressure Limiting (APL) Assembly BCG for Aestiva7100 Anesthesia 1406-8202-000-S
The Adjustable Pressure Relief Valve (APL) is a user adjustable valve that releases gas into the purge system. It is used to control the pressure in the respiratory system. APL is provided on the main manifold assembly. Releases anesthetic gas in the anesthetic gas evacuation system (AGSS) and sets pressure limits for manual ventilation in the air tubing through the diaphragm. AGSS removes spent anesthetic gases from anesthesia machines in areas such as operating rooms to eliminate potential long-term health risks for exposed medical personnel. The APL is mounted on an elastic and expandable gasket. Gas flows from the patient to the purge system through the APL valve, where the pressure fluctuates regularly. This valve is used in many medical systems such as MS CARESCAPE ™ Monitor B850, ARC Aespire 7900, ARC Aespire View, MIC Giraffe ™ Incubator, MS CIC Pro, ARC iVent 201, etc.
Features
The APL valve (A) sets the pressure limit for manual ventilation.
When you turn the APL knob, it applies more or less force to the APL disc and seat (D/S). If the circuit pressure is too high (6), the disc and seat in the diaphragm open and vent the gas to the scavenging system (7).

Test the APL valve
A. Check and reset if necessary (see section 6.6).
B. Make sure AGSS is working.
C. Insert the patient connector by connecting it to the test port on the handle.
D. Connect the bag arm to the test connector.
E. APL completely open at MIN.
F. Set O2 flow to 3 L/min. The pressure indicated on the manometer should not exceed 3.0 cm H2O.
G. Set the total fresh gas flow to 30 l/min*. The pressure indicated on the gauge should not exceed 4.0 cm H2O.
H. At a flow rate of 30 l / min, the valve is controlled at intermediate settings of approx. 20, 30 and 50. Note that the scale is only an approximation. The pressure should stabilize with each adjustment; however, fluctuations on the order of 8 cm H2O (min to max) are acceptable**. Make sure the APL valve is tactile when turned in the 30-70 cm H2O range and that the knob does not turn on its own.
I. Set the APL to 70 at a flow rate of 30 L/min. The pressure indicated on the manometer must be between 60 and 85 cm H2O, including fluctuations.
J. Set APL to MIN.
K. Remove bag arm cap and replace with bag. The bursa should be fully inflated.
L. Minimize O2 flow and turn off all other flow controls.
M. The stock market should stay up
