GENERAL MAINTENANCE

The resuscitation equipment must be maintained for immediate use. The following operational checks should be carried out at the beginning of each shift to ensure correct equipment operation and patient safety.
Refer to the corresponding operator shift checklist at the end of this section. Copy and distribute the appropriate forms to all individuals responsible for equipment use and preparation.
Note: Self-test defibrillation and pacing data will be automatically recorded on the PCMCIA data card (if any). The device can be configured to delete all self-test data from the data card when the power is off. For details, please refer to the M Series Configuration Guide.
an examination
Make sure that the equipment is clean (no liquid spills) and that nothing is stored on the equipment.

Check that the surface of the blade is clean and free of electrolyte gel and other contaminants.
Check that all cables, wires, and connectors are in good condition, are not cut or frayed, and have no bent pins.
Verify that all disposable supplies (electrode gel, monitoring electrodes, recording paper, alcohol swabs, razors, antiperspirants) are present and in proper condition.
Check if an empty memory card is installed in the device (if applicable).
Check whether a fully charged battery is installed in the device.

Cleaning
M series products and their accessories are chemically resistant to the most common cleaning solutions and non-corrosive cleaning agents. The following list includes approved cleaning solutions;
• 90% isopropyl alcohol (except adapter and patient cable)
• Soap and water
• Chlorine bleach (30 ml/liter of water)
ZOLL recommends using a soft damp cloth and the above-mentioned cleaners to clean the equipment, blades and cables. The parts of the recorder can only be cleaned with a damp, soft cloth.
Do not immerse any part of the equipment (including paddles) in water. Do not use ketones (MEK, acetone, etc.). Avoid using abrasives (such as paper towels) on the display window. Do not disinfect the equipment. Special care should be taken to clean the defibrillation paddle after each use. The accumulation of gel can interfere with the monitoring of the paddle ECG (at first glance) and may cause an electric shock hazard to the operator. Keep the paddle handle clean.

Semi-automatic defibrillator test
If the "LOW BATTERY" message appears during the test at the start of the shift, the battery currently in use is about to run out and should be replaced and recharged.
The device does not test whether the battery has enough power to support the long-term use of the device, and can only determine the capacity by testing the battery in a suitable ZOLL battery charger.
1. Power-on sequence check
Connect the patient end of the multifunction cable to the defibrillator test connector.
Starting with the selector switch OFF, turn the selector switch to the ON position and observe the following:
• 4 beeps indicate that the POST has been successfully completed.
• Display and broadcast CHECK PADS or ATTACH PADS messages.
2. Defibrillator test
• Press the analysis button. The verification unit is charged to 30 joules (30J ready message).
• After the device is charged, make sure that the SHOCK button is lit.
• Press and hold the shock button.
• TEST OK should be displayed briefly on the screen and printed on the strip chart recorder (if available). These messages indicate that the energy provided by the device meets specifications.
• If "TEST FAILED" appears, please contact the corresponding technician or ZOLL technical service department immediately.
• Connect the multi-function cable to the ZOLL ECG simulator. Set the emulator to VF.
• Confirm that the "CHECK PATIENT" message is displayed and announced within 30 seconds.
• Press the analysis button. Verify that the device is charged to 200J (non-biPhilipilipase) or 120J (biPhilipilipase) or other pre-configured levels.
• After the device is charged, confirm that the SHOCK button is lit and the message "PRESS SHOCK" is displayed and announced.
• Press and hold the shock button. Verify that the device is discharged.
3. Recorder inspection (if applicable)

• Check the uniformity and darkness of the recorder's waveform.
• Check the consistency of the annotation characters and the completeness of the words.
• Check the strip recorder speed by verifying that the calibration pulse is 2.5 ± ½ mm wide and 10 ± 1 mm high.
