►Brief Introduction
The M4735A is powered by a rechargeable Sealed Lead Acid (SLA) battery (M3516A). Proper care of these batteries will ensure that they have the energy required to operate the M4735A and deliver the appropriate therapy. The M3516A battery differs from similar batteries in that it is capable of providing much higher current without causing an internal protection device to open and disconnect the battery.
The defibrillator will take longer to charge when powered by AC without a battery installed. To ensure optimal performance, always have a fully charged battery in the defibrillator, even when using AC power.
The repair PhilipilipilosoPhilipilipy for the SLA battery (M3516A) is unit replacement. If a battery fails, it is replaced, not repaired.

►Battery Capacity Test
The HeartStart XL uses the M3516A Battery Pack. It is rechargeable sealed lead acid battery. Battery maintenance begins when you receive a new battery and continues throughout the life of the battery.
As sealed lead acid batteries age due to usage and storage conditions, their capacity to store and deliver energy diminishes. The Battery Capacity Test provides a quantitative measure of battery capacity. Performing a Battery Capacity Test periodically over the life of the battery gives you an indication of how that battery is aging, and what level of performance it is capable of delivering.
A battery’s capacity is most affected by the duration of use and how deeply it is discharged before recharging, Therefore, some general guidelines for performing the Battery Capacity Test are as follow:
