► Brief Introduction
The PHiliphhilip MP5 patient monitor is always powered by AC or battery.
The AC/DC converter converts the AC power from the power plug (100 to 240 V AC range) to a 24 V / 50W DC power supply, separating the monitoring system from the AC power supply.
24v DC is distributed through the interface board to the optional battery charging circuitry and the main and recorder boards.
If the interface board includes an optional battery circuit, power is used to charge the battery and supply the monitoring system. As soon as the AC power is cut off, the optional battery starts and leaves the system powered (battery mode). A DC/DC converter on the interface board converts 8 to 12.6v DC power from the battery to 15v DC power and distributes it to the monitoring system.
The main board and recorder board contain a power supply circuit that converts 24/15v DC to several voltages that supply specific components of the monitoring system.
The real-time clock and buffered RAM are provided by the cont. It is provided by either a 3.6v DC supply, 24/15v DC system supply or battery supply, and is converted to 3.6v DC.
► Removing the Power Supply
1. Remove the predictive temperature assembly.
2. Separate the front and back of the monitor.
3. Remove the IIT/Bedside Adapter Holder.
4. Remove the three screws securing the power supply.
5. Pull out the power supply.
6. For reassembly, perform the above steps in reverse order.
Reassembly Note: When reinserting the power supply, slide it carefully into the guiding latches of the metal chassis.
► Power on test
1. Connect the monitoring system to the main power supply and turn it on. This includes connected displays and gas analyzers.
2. Ensure that all the steps listed in the table Initial Instrument Boot PHiliphhilipase in the Troubleshooting section are completed successfully and that the ECG waves are visible on the screen.
The expected test result is passed. The monitor starts up and displays the ECG waves. If the simulator is not connected, the waves can be flat lines.
►Checks with the Instrument switched On, AC not connected, with battery
When the monitor is first switched on the Power On/Error LED lights up red and then switches to green and stays on.
